Proximity Chat Setup

Follow these steps to experience immersive directional audio on The Burnt Isle. Communicate with players based on your in-game position.

1. Download Mumble

Mumble is the core software that handles the proximity audio connection. Download and install the version for your OS.

GET MUMBLE

2. Add the Server

Open Mumble and add a new server using these credentials:

Host: 66.51.96.73
Port: 64738
Username: [Your Username]
Label: The Burnt Isle

3. Install the Plugin

Run the official installer to automatically add The Isle proximity support to your Mumble client.

4. Enable Link & Plugins

In Mumble settings, go to Configure → Settings → Plugins. Enable “Link to Game and Position” and then scroll down to enable “TheIsleProximity”.

Click “Reload Plugins” after enabling.

5. Disable Bosch VOIP

If installed, disable it – it can auto‑mute players.

6. Link Your Account

Once connected to Mumble, join the game server. Copy your unique ID hash from Mumble and use the in-game command:

/link-account [yourhashhere]

7. Set push‑to‑talk

Configure → Shortcuts → Add → Push‑to‑Talk → choose your key.

8. Disable notification sounds

Configure → Messages → untick all notification options

9. Remove mic sounds

Settings → Audio Input → enable Mute cue and disable any “mic‑click” sounds.

10. Improve audio quality

Settings → Audio Input → Compression → disable Low‑delay mode.

Set Audio per packet to Maximum and Quality to Maximum.

11. Voice Commands

You can now change your voice range in-game to suit your survival situation:

/shout — Extreme range
/normal — Standard speaking
/whisper — Stealth / Close range
